All of the Cornerstone locations have ABC certified practitioners with Washington State licensure to provide the highest standard of care available in the industry. Practitioners and fitters are the individuals who evaluate and provide treatment directly to patients.

Our friendly staff works hard to make you feel welcome and to facilitate proper insurance coverage of your device. We can oversee insurance rules and regulations with an in-house Medicare compliance officer. We have been recognized as a leader in the industry by the American Board of Certification. We also have an excellent in-house billing department. As a team, we strive to work together to serve you.

Cornerstone has an in-house fabrication department with ABC Registered technicians. Our technicians undergo regular continuing education to learn the latest and best techniques to fabricate the highest quality devices. Unlike other O&P firms that have to outsource fabrication, our in-house fab dept. helps us keep turnaround time very fast. In-house fabrication allows us to develop devices to the highest quality standards.

Mike Smith, CP, LPO, is the Director of Clinical Operations for Cornerstone Prosthetics and Orthotics and specializes in all types of prosthetic patient care including above knee amputation and hip disarticulation, microprocessor knees, below knee amputation casting systems, hydraulic ankles, and myoelectric arms for upper extremity limb loss. He also serves as the current Chairman of the WA Department of Health Orthotic and Prosthetic Advisory Committee and Licensure Board. After serving two military combat tours in Iraq, Mike developed a keen interest in amputee recovery, prosthetic care, and improving functional mobility. He has 10 years of clinical experience and completed his residency at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System in Seattle, WA. After completing her first degree in Oklahoma, Shawna spent several years as a social worker before completing a Prosthetics and Orthotics degree at the University of Washington. Shawna chose this field because she enjoys helping patients increase their independence and meet personal goals. Shawna's favorite pastimes include playing soccer, hot yoga, and chasing after her kids. She looks forward to helping others continue participating in their favorite activities! Annie spent several years working as a certified Athletic Trainer in a physical therapy setting after undergrad. She has experience in sports medicine rehabilitation and gait training. Annie understands the importance of communication within an interdisciplinary team to ensure her patients get the best treatment possible. She has always enjoyed helping her patients get back to functional independence and the activates they love. In her free time, she loves hiking with her dog, camping and competing in triathlons. Tuan spent several years working as a patient service specialist for the physical therapy department at the University of Washington Medical Center before completing his Orthotics and Prosthetics education at Loma Linda University. He enjoys assisting patients and the art of crafting devices to improve their quality of life. His favorite part of the job is bringing smiles to his patients as they are recovering and are learning new ways to restore their functional independence. He likes spending time with family, hiking with friends, and exploring 3D printing technology in his free time. Edward enjoys being a Prosthetist-Orthotist. He feels it’s an amazing field that draws on a wide range of health care, engineering and fabrication skills. He provides the best care possible for all of his patients through an attention to details and the patients specific needs. Edward believes in utilizing a deep tool set that includes traditional methods and the newest innovations in technology. Navigating healthcare can be challenging, he will be available to keep you informed so that any questions or concerns are resolved quickly. Edward builds the trust of his patients by being reliable and accountable. Knowing that patients often arrive during a stressful and difficult period of their lives, Edward takes care to walk through the process. He has developed a high quality and innovative care style through years of experience working in some the nation’s best medical facilities. Edward strives to be accessible and respectful of his patients time. We are all unique and he believes that prostheses and orthoses must be personalized to their specific needs. Edward is delighted to be joining the skilled, collaborative and dedicated team at Cornerstone Orthotics and Prosthetics. He has experience in all levels of orthotic and prosthetic care with additional specialization in upper extremity prosthetic technology and complex lower extremity prosthetic fitting. He lives in Lake Stevens with his wife and their three boys. He loves to be outside, especially in the mountains skiing, running or hiking. Alice has been a part of the Cornerstone P & O team since 1990, and has been clinical manager of the Mt. Vernon office since 1999. As well as overseeing the busy office, Alice is a mentor to visiting residents and a long time supporter for a number of outreach programs and organizations. She is looking forward to her move and relocation to our Sequim Clinic as clinical manager. A semi-retirement for most, but we all know, Alice has other ideas. Alice spends her free time with her husband Robert of 35 years, their two grown children, and enjoys gatherings with local family/friends as well as visits with their extended Ohana in Hawaii.
